It takes both brains and heart to work with us.
People are at the heart of our business. We create a better everyday life together by living our shared values and safeguarding our unique culture. Our job is to do good business while being a good business.
Leadership at IKEA is simple, clear and humble. We are not fans of bureaucracy or a complicated hierarchy. At IKEA, everyone is a “leader”. We give freedom – you take responsibility for your tasks in close cooperation with others. Most of the things we do are team efforts.
About the role
You are a business-minded connector who gets energy by developing business through people. You will work together with your colleagues and business partners to manufacture and supply natural fibers products that are sold to IKEA customers at 456 stores in 61 countries around the world. This includes products made of rattan, bamboo, sedge and water hyacinth, also mix of natural fibers with metal, and wood materials. Always with affordability and sustainability top of mind, you drive the business to be faster and more innovative. You enable lower costs for IKEA, but never at any cost. Show us how you’d do it!
What you will be doing
As an informal leader, you will direct the steps and activities of a three-person micro-team that also includes a production engineer and a supply planner. Based on analysis, your group will create actions plans together with category business partners that enable sustainable and affordable business growth. This includes identifying potential areas to reduce production costs and create better designed products for our customers. You will also:
- Develop strong partnerships with IKEA business partners through regular travel to production facilities
- Act as an on-the-ground problem solver, giving and receiving feedback from business partners while coaching on the implementation of business plans
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities for existing products and launch the production of new products
- Ensure consistent communication with business partners and IKEA colleagues, through phone calls, emails, team meetings, project groups and data entry
Why we will love you
You love to ask “why…” and “what if…” and you are passionate about developing business and people. You have knowledge of economic and financial fundamentals, including P&L, income statements and cost breakdowns, but you are equally at home on the production floor. We also see you have:
- Ability to make things happen through involving and engaging people
- Strong negotiation skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders
- English fluency, both spoken and written
- Good project management skills
- Interest in production and discovering latest technologies in home furnishing
- Finding new and better solutions that will benefit the IKEA customer
