Software Engineer – Payments, Group Digital

San Sebastián de los Reyes, Comunidad de Madrid - Utforska området IT och Digitala lösningar Heltid

HEJ! (Swedish for Hi)

We’re searching for engineers to shape the future of payments at IKEA!

IKEA’s mission is to offer a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low, that as many people as possible will be able to afford them. This spirit of access drives everything we do at IKEA, including our mission in Payments.

We’re building a seamless payment experience for the many people.

How do we do this? We transform the complex landscape of payments into an easy-to-use platform. We create an environment that celebrates innovative ideas. We take a data-driven approach to continuous improvement, and we create systems that are secure, scalable, and resilient. And, in true IKEA fashion, we do it in the spirit of collaboration and togetherness.

You will help us create a user-friendly omni-channel payment platform within IKEA to process many-thousands of payments per second for 30 markets worldwide, each with its own unique payment needs. “Create” being a key word, without legacy monoliths to tear apart and maintain. A security-focused approach is paramount for us and our customers. And, since our mission is access, payments need to “just work”, so resiliency and scalability are equally important.

What you have to offer

• A proven record of delivering secure, scalable, and resilient services based on DevOps principles, experience using JVM-based languages is a plus.

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms – preferably GCP (Google Cloud Platform), but other platforms are great too!

• Experience using deployment automation tools such as Terraform and GitHub Actions.

• An understanding of modern observability practices such as distributed tracing, structured logging and metrics.

• A mindset for championing an inclusive engineering culture.

• A passion for mentoring and growing engineers around you.

• Superb communication skills.

The following are nice-to-have’s:

• Experience working in e-commerce and online payments.

• Familiarity building web applications using modern frameworks and best practices.

• A direct impact on the lives of millions of people worldwide. With us, you’ll be challenged to create scalable solutions that have a direct customer impact in 30 markets around the world.

• A challenging yet fun work environment. We believe that technical excellence and collaboration are key, and fun is a must.

• Continuous learning. We want to invest in you and your future. With our 80/20 rule you’ll spend 80% of your time working on a product and 20% working on yourself.

• A place to be you. Diversity and inclusion are written into our company’s DNA. When you work at IKEA, you’ll join a welcoming community where you can be creative and be yourself.
